I say congrats on the progress... and better still, congrats on seeing that it IS progress! Too many folks look at the half empty glass there, and get discouraged and slip further down the slippery slope.

As for Taco Hell... seems like about 50% of the time I eat there, I end up with unpleasant "bowel consequences". Same for my husband. Which means I do tend to think about it before I eat there. I admit however to having one meal at Taco Hell on my recent road trip with no problems. It kind of helped me remember that it's not really all THAT tasty anyway. And now I have no craving. I WILL RUN FROM THE BORDER!

Something to share... I was doing a little re-reading in my Precision Nutrition manual and one of the things hit home for me today. And that was that you need to match your behaviors to your goals. During times when you can't commit to being fully on track with eating/exercise, it's not reasonable to set a high goal of fast weight loss. OTOH, if you want quicker weight loss, your behaviors have to fall in line with that goal. Sometimes a goal of just keeping to healthy eating habits without regard for weight loss is fine. It's known as maintenance... and it's where we all want to get to!

Part of life is coping with what comes along, and that might be busy times at work, or family emergencies or vacations, illness or whatever. You coped WELL! OK, you may have overeaten a little, in relationship to your goal of 6-8 pounds/month, but you didn't actually overeat if you were still losing at a slower pace!

You clearly know what you need to do to step it up... and you'll do it!

In the multiple choice, I choose, F. Top Chef is on my list. I'm shooting for one of the girls to win this one.........................:)

I know how you feel about your schedule, Metro, it's sometimes hard to keep up. One idea that works for me when I'm tempted to eat at my computer is to have a bowl of baby carrots, radishes, or celery close by.

Keep hangin' in there.......................:)

Hi Kim - Thanks! Yeah it was funny on the Jackson Pollock thing - the way it came to me (I kid you not) was I was sitting in my chair trying to think of something that shakes water off and was getting nothing, so I started shaking like a sheep dog to see if there was any inspiration. Sometimes you really have to BE the language ;)

Great suggestion on the luncheon plates too!

Jackson Pollock? Wet Irish sheep dog? - Excellent metaphor!

I hear you on all this. I have been on this same path and the weight loss has slowed now that I am down to the last 20 lbs to go. I also have to watch the healthy snacks, they add up too. I switched to luncheon size plates and allow myself only one serving at all meals - that helps. Great post.

Takers? Are you saying you are actually *not* Ironman? =P

Gotta admit, I read the first chunk and last chunk of your blog post. I suffer from the same problem as you are: too many blogs to read and too little time =)

It was 11:30 when I finished my "memoir" post and I still had to go around and leave some comments.

Don't hate me because I'm a slow reader!

Just kidding =P

Greets,

@Nico - Hi Nico! Thank you for the words of encouragement. I'll definitely swing over and check the post out.

@Christine - Well in fairness, I do try to keep up with blogs, but even that has slipped. :) And G - you are a dog whisperer junkie too? I wish you well on your renewed efforts btw. Always good to hear from you. I'll swing over to your blog as well, hopefully later this eve.

So no Iron Man takers? :)

I would have guessed B and J. I would use B for myself except I have not been baking any bread so I think I will use excuse G and then J due to excuse G. does that make sense? I haven't done my weekly accountability report for a while because....of G and J. I have gained 2 pounds . Eeeeeeeek! Mostly over the May long weekend holiday. I am behaving starting today. I have not indulged in any junk today and worked my fanny off. BTW I love excuse G.

I got 3 things to say to you Metroknow:

- Don't give up! I truly wish you hang in there and continue what you're doing!
- I wish I could write like you, you're a real talent!
- I tagged you in a post of mine, go see it here if you like, http://www.prohealthblog.com/healthy-ramblings/your-body-is-your-temple.html
You're free to do whatever you want with this,... considering the fact you got a serious work load on your back, I wouldn't at all be surprised if you'd skip this =)

Either way, Hang in there!

Greetings,

Nico
