I think that your post here touches on a very important aspect of eating a healhtier diet. Without portion control and moderation, most people will continue to struggle to lose weight even though they may be eating "healthy" foods. Of course eating healthy foods, such as whole grains, fruits, vegetables and lean proteins can go a long way to improving your overall health, but without portion control and moderation weight gain and/or stalled weight loss can still be an issue.

I find that when the weather changes its easier to get outside and exercise. Now that its not so hot I actually enjoy getting on the bike or even running...yes running the bane of my existence.

Thanks MizFit - that electrical tape may come in handy. And I must say, "DuctTapeDiet DOT com" does have a certain ring to it. . . :)

@Andrew: You are totally right. It is insidious!

@Live Well: Thanks for the encouragement and the suggestion. I have this odd thing I need to get over - I figure that if I can't convince myself to complete resistance training without weights, then if I buy weights I'm just throwing money at the symptom without addressing the root of the problem. In my current situation a gym membership isn't really what I want to do either. Am I missing something? Meaning, is it silly to follow that train of thought (as in, if I actually _had_ weights, I would use them because it is more enjoyable than resistance training without them...) ...I think this merits a post...

Great job on the running! Adding weight lifting to your routine will help with your desired weight loss by December. You won't bulk up (I promise) but you'll increase the amount of muscle you have, which increases your metabolism throughout the day instead of just while you're running. Just a thought to help!! Keep it up with your running and eating well!!

Good on you for noticing the problems and deciding to take action. It's amazing how easily the moderation can slip away isn't it?
