The Omnivore’s Hundred: Almost Fit edition

I found this fun little item over on Mark Salinas’ site, and thought I’d pitch my hat in the ring just for kicks. From Mark’s site:

“The site Very Good Taste posted a list of 100 things that they felt every good omnivore should try at least once in his or her life.”

I decided to share my list here – I was surprised at how many foods I’ve eaten. How about you?

5. Crocodile – Wow I don’t know about this one…What does the ethics council say?

9. Borscht
10. Baba ghanoush
– LOVE Baba ghanoush almost as much as I love saying, “Baba ghanoush”

13. Peanut butter and jelly sandwich
14. Aloo gobi
– a weakness of mine
15. Hot dog from a street cart
– the best
16. Epoisses
– I love cheese
17. Black truffle
18. Fruit wine made from something other than grapes
19. Steamed pork buns

20. Pistachio ice cream
21. Heirloom tomatoes – yesterday, actually
22. Fresh wild berries
23. Foie gras
24. Rice and beans

25. Brawn or head cheese – not yet, but I’m working my way up to it
26. Raw Scotch Bonnet pepper – not sure actually
27. Dulce de leche

29. Baklava
30. Bagna cauda – another favorite

32. Clam chowder in a sourdough bowl – right on the San Francisco Pier

34. Sauerkraut – always with the hot dog from the cart, above

38. Vodka jelly – not yet, but great idea

42. Whole insects – I would try this, believe it or not

68. Haggis – you know, I think it sounds disgusting, but I would try it. once.

70. Chitterlings or andouillette - not as bad as I expected. Kinda’ liked it, honestly.
71. Gazpacho – my Father-in-law’s specialty

75. Roadkill – depends on how fresh…. (gasp!)

Looks like there is just about nothing I won’t eat………..And I’ve tried the majority of the list I think!
