Mmm! Hey, stranger, looks tasty. I am making some yummy non-cream-based potato soup tonight, myself. Glad Katy and Daniel passed me your blog! :D

Too bad about your dogs eating up your garden carrots. Would sprinkling cayenne powder on the carrot tops deter them?

That looks very scrumptious. When staying local and seasonal in winter, don't forget pickling and canning...

@Andrew: Oh sure, rub it in :)

@David and @ish: I hope it works well for you. Please let us know how it goes if you get a chance.

@Hanlie: Hi Hanlie! You know you raise an interesting point, and one worthy of a post I think. It is common knowledge that the RAF spread the carrots and eyesight idea as a means of covering new radar technology advances in WWII, but whether that is the original source or if the idea is older than that, I haven't seen any evidence either way. Not to mention there is a fair amount of non-mainstream thought that suggests skepticism surrounding the studies that were conducted on the relationship between carrots/vitamin A and eyesight (most of which concluded that it had no effect on most people). A common alternative thought I've read so far is that since carrots are not industrially produced, the food industry would rather sell a chemical/supplemented product than advocate a natural one. I am not sure what the truth actually is, but you certainly have piqued my interest! Thank you!

@LisaNewton: Hi there Lisa! Good point on lowering cost. It's really true - not only are the vegetables of course free if they're from our garden, but they are at their lowest prices locally due to the seasonal availability. Thanks for pointing that out!

This recipe looks great and the idea of using seasonal veggies keeps the cost down.

Thanks, Metro.

I'm also going to try this! It look great!

Improved eyesight from carrots is not a myth! I know a few people who've had to change their lens prescriptions after consuming at least one glass of freshly extracted carrot juice per day over a period of time!

Well, I live in Vancouver, so this soup recipe is perfect for me. Thanks for this. You're instructions are very thorough, which is the kind of thing I need.
